Le 1er juillet dernier, Immanuel Wallerstein, sociologue et théoricien de la pensée décoloniale, a annoncé, en publiant son 500ème « Commentaire », que c’était son dernier. Il avait commencé cette régulière participation à l’analyse et à la compréhension du monde le 1er octobre 1998.
Dans ce dernier Commentaire, il s’autorise à se défaire de l’engagement qu’il avait pris de régulièrement écrire sur une question lui semblant devoir être réfléchie et partagée. Immanuel Wallerstein nous a quittés ce 31 août.
Ce penseur n’a jamais cessé de nous enrichir, de nous alerter et de nous confronter aux nombreuses contradictions et pièges que le système racial capitaliste et libéral met face à tous ceux qui veulent défaire le paradigme de la domination.
On ne peut oublier la contribution importante qu’il a faite en insistant sur ce que de nombreux politiques et économistes veulent masquer, à savoir que l’ethnicisation et la racialisation n’ont jamais, depuis la colonisation et la mise en esclavage, cessé de répondre aux injonctions de l’économie-monde.

On July 1st, Immanuel Wallerstein, sociologist and theoretician of the decolonial thought announced, by publishing his 500th Commentary, that it was his last. He had begun this regular participation in the analysis and understanding of the world on October 1st, 1998.
In this last Commentary, he allows himself to get rid of the commitment he had made to regularly write on an issue that seemed to him to have to be considered and shared. Immanuel Wallerstein passed away on August 31st.
This thinker has never ceased to enrich, alert and confront us with the many contradictions and pitfalls that the capitalist and liberal racial system puts in front of all those who want to undo the paradigm of domination.
We cannot forget the important contribution he made by insisting on what many politicians and economists want to disguise, namely that ethnicization and racialization have never, since colonization and enslavement, ceased to respond to the injunctions of the world economy.
